Donald Trump, has given his stamp of approval on a girl group birthed out of his many pageants.
BQ Girls are an American pop and R&B girl group formed in 2012 by Dr. A.T. Dunn. The group comprises four members, each of whom competed in a Miss Universe Organization pageant: Wendy Fitzwilliam, Miss Universe 1998 and singer from Trinidad & Tobago, Chelsea Cooley, Miss USA 2005, Haley Seibert (first runner-up to Miss Iowa Teen USA 2012) and Yi Na (winner of Miss Talent and the third runner-up to Miss Universe China 2011).
Wendy, Haley, Chelsea and Yi are the BQ Girls
Meanwhile, Dr. A.T. Dunn from StandOut Productions, saw a need for a new female group that could combine international backgrounds, different generations and classic pop/R&B sounds. He brought them together and called them the BQ Girls.
Wendy Fitzwilliam, Miss Universe 1998 and singer from Trinidad & Tobago. A lawyer and radio show hostess, Fitzwilliam was awarded the franchise to the Next Top Model television series for the Caribbean in 2011.
Chelsea Cooley, Miss USA 2005. After a year representing the Trump brand and the Miss Universe Organization, she continued to make appearances on various NBC shows, including “Deal or No Deal,” “Passions” and “Celebrity Cooking Showdown.”
Haley Seibert, First runner-up to Miss Iowa Teen USA 2012. A Des Moines native, is a winner of the “World’s Glamorous Teen” contest.
Yi Na, Winner of Miss Talent and the third runner-up to Miss Universe China 2011. Yi was born in Xinjiang and is one of the rare Chinese celebrities of Uyghur descent.
Dunn conceived of the group as a way to restore the classic girl groups of the 1990s, with an international edge. He first got Chelsea and Wendy together and they soon discovered Haley Seibert from Iowa. After Yi Na’s dramatic performance at Miss Universe China 2011 got her on the talent radar, they signed her on as well.
The BQ Girls have three singles in the pipeline, including their debut “Runway.” They’re in the process of lining up tour dates and over the next few weeks, will be making a number of major announcements about performances and appearances. They’re also going back to their beauty pageant roots, and you may see them on the Miss Universe and national pageant stages very soon.
The group was featured on the September 2012 cover of “Express Woman” magazine.
So far the BQ Girls have been making public appearances and preparing for their Los Angeles Tour with a concert appearance.
On October 17, 2012, The world’s first beauty queen pop and R&B group released their first single, “Runway.”
